Chiropractor. Climber. Routesetter.
Dr. Max Wong provides climbing physio and climbing rehab in Toronto is pulling on a crimp

ABOUT

Dr. Max Wong (she/they) loves climbing. While she was getting her doctorate, she and a lot of her fellow climbers would encounter really weird and specific climbing injuries that most physios and chiros didn't know how to diagnose or treat. Seeing this gap in care, Dr. Wong began to dive deep into climbing performance, movement, and injury recovery. A few years into her climbing rehab practice, she began routesetting, adding the knowledge of routesetter-specific injuries, and maintenance of routesetter health and ability, to her roster. She was a participant of the first Canadian Climbing Medicine Symposium, and has been on medical staff of various athletic events, including the NAIG (2017), Bloc Shop Open (2017), IFSC Youth Panams (2017), and Canadian Open Boulder Nationals (2018). Her desire to provide climbers with appropriate treatment during competitions led her to temporarily be a Sports Emergency First Responder with the Canadian Red Cross. She is a member of Climbing Escalade Canada's Integrated Support Team/National Practitioner Network, which provides integrative medical care for Canada's climbing athletes and teams.

Dr. Wong holds a B.Sc (Honours) in Biology and Visual Arts, and a B.Ed from York University. Following that, she completed her Doctor of Chiropractic from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in 2016, where she worked in a multi-disciplinary community health centre, treating complex cases. During this time, Dr. Wong also successfully treated previous and current national-level athletes. Dr. Wong was awarded Clinical Honours upon graduation for her excellence in patient care. She is currently practicing in Toronto, Canada, and is on faculty with the Ontario College of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. She
is a member in good standing with the College of Chiropractors of Ontario, Canadian Chiropractic Association, Ontario Chiropractic Association, Ontario Alliance of ClimbersAlpine Club of CanadaOntario College of Teachers, and Royal Conservatory of Music.

When she is not in practice, lecturing, training chiropractic interns, or routesetting, Dr. Wong can be found bouldering or sportclimbing at the local climbing gym or crag, reading about muscle physiology, talking someone's ear off about training, and daydreaming about her next meal (often while eating her current meal). Her love of climbing has taken her to Red River Gorge and the Adirondacks (US), Val Davide, Banff, Canmore and Squamish (CA), and Arco (IT). She gives talks with climbing gyms and outdoor companies from time to time, usually rattling on about climbing rehab and the like. She knows how to trad, and she hates it.
